SALEP 88 born from a talented hand of Mr. Benjamin Surya Prakasa, the founder of MECCAYA Pharmaceutical. He is known as an innovative businessman that is always eager for more and never gives up.
Mr. Beni (his nickname) has been experienced a skin disease that was caused by Fungal Infection. That super itchy and uncomfortable feeling has pushed him to do research and develop the solution – at that moment, he only uses that to cure himself.
After passing multiple phases of testing, Mr. Beni ointment proved to be very effective to cure fungal skin infection not only for himself but also to his friends and neighbors who need it.
This ointment is effective to cure various types of fungal skin infections that commonly suffered by Indonesian society like Athlete’s Foot, Ringworm, Jock Itch, and Tinea Versicolor. This ointment active ingredient also effective to kill mites that can cause Scabies and reduce the itching feeling.
Mr. Beni then decides to start the production process and marketizing it with a brand name SALEP 88 in 1974 as a home industrial product.
Skin Disease Solution for All
At that time, Mr. Beni becomes the one who marketizes SALEP 88 products from door to door. He never hesitates to give product education from village to village in his car using a loudspeaker.
He focused on introducing SALEP 88 as the best quality skin meds at an affordable price so it could be bought by all Indonesian society.
This becomes the reason why SALEP 88 distribution was focused on General Trade (pharmacy or independent drug store). It goes in line with Mr. Beni's vision to reach all Indonesian Society, especially the middle and lower class that has low buying potential.
Mr. Beni is prouder when SALEP 88 becomes more available at small stores spreads on all Indonesia, rather than making it only available on the modern supermarket in big cities.
The Establishment of MECCAYA Pharmaceutical
Aware that its visions must be supported by qualified infrastructure, so in 1982 MECCAYA Pharmaceutical officially becomes a limited company that established its first factory at Bekasi on April 18th, 1982.
With the establishment of MECCAYA Pharmaceutical, the research and development process of the best quality product becomes its main mission and SALEP 88 and all other products continue to be developed and refined to this day.
This is also what makes SALEP 88 now known as the most famous skin disease meds all over Indonesia, especially with the iconic red tube packaging.
