#KataDokter : Instagram LIVE Chit-Chat Talk About Indonesian Millennials Skin's Health

Getting a skin disease is often a dilemma for Millennials. Usually, the symptoms are very disturbing our daily basis, like intense itching or burning. But on the other hand, Millennials still hesitate to ask questions or consult a specialist because they feel embarrassed.

Responding to this dilemma, MECCAYA Pharmaceutical took the initiative to hold a LIVE Talkshow Series titled #KataDokter which was broadcast on Instagram @salep88id – where each episode thoroughly explores facts and tips for the prevention and treatment of various skin diseases.

Hosted by Ferry Salim, MECCAYA Pharmaceutical invited a Dermatologist as an interviewee in every episode of #KataDokter.

In its premiere episode on October 3rd, 2020, #KataDokter discussed the topic of Fungal Infection: The Threat of Indonesian Millennials Lifestyle by presenting dr. Kardiana Dewi, Sp.KK as a Skin Health Expert to help rectify myths, hoaxes, and answer Millennials’ curiosity about fungal infections that have not been answered so far.

According to dr. Kardiana, Fungal Infection in Indonesia is one type of infection that most often occurs on the skin.

“In principle, fungal infections can occur to anyone from all ages, from children, adults, and the elderly. Basically, everyone can be infected, and it mostly occurs lately in the 20-30 age group or as we called it Millennials,” said dr. Kardiana.

There are various types of fungal infections that are common in Indonesia, including Tinea Versicolor, Athlete’s Foot, Ringworm, and Jock Itch or better known as Groin Itching, which are prone to occur when Millennials sit for a long period of time in their daily activities, for example when riding a motorcycle or working in the office with a computer.

Regarding the transmission of fungal infections, dr. Kardiana said that there are 3 factors that can be the cause, the first is Anthropophilic, where humans transmit the fungal infection to fellow humans, for example when exchanging towels or underwear.

The second one is Zoophilic, which is a transmission from animals to humans, one of them from a pet. And the third one is Geophilic, which is a transmission from soil to humans.

According to dr. Kardiana, fungal can also be transmitted to people who like gardening because when we are too busy gardening, we often accidentally touch areas of moist soil that are overgrown with fungal.
