TINEA VERSICOLOR, The Embarassing Skin Pigmentation

From many types of skin fungal infections, Tinea Versicolor (Panu) is the most common skin fungal infection in Indonesia. Patients vary greatly, ranging from rural communities to urban, middle-aged, teenagers, to children.

Unlike other fungal infections, Tinea Versicolor is not contagious and does not cause itching or pain. However, Tinea Versicolor spots on the skin can cause discomfort and make the sufferer lose confidence.

What is Tinea Versicolor?

Tinea Versicolor (or Panu) is a fungal infection of the skin that disrupts skin pigment, thus forming patches (like islands on the map) with colors that are lighter or darker than the original color of our skin.

Tinea versicolor patches appear slowly on the surface of the skin, generally in areas of the body such as the back, chest, upper arms, neck, and abdomen. If left unchecked, these patches can merge and form larger blotches.

Causes of Tinea Versicolor

Tinea Versicolor is caused by the uncontrolled growth of skin fungal, which is then supported by weak immune systems, hormonal changes, or nutritional deficiencies.

Tinea Versicolor also often occurs during hot weather which can make oily skin and excessive sweating, so it is not surprising that people in large cities can also be infected with Tinea Versicolor.

Prevention of Tinea Versicolor

Tinea Versicolor can be prevented by:

  • Choose clothes that are made of moisture-wicking fabric such as Coolmax or Dri-Fit
  • Avoid direct sunlight when the weather is very hot because it can be the cause of or make the Tinea Versicolor even worse.
  • Avoid using oil-based products when you must do outdoor activities in the hot weather.

The Treatment of Tinea Versicolor

Although it spread massively, Tinea Versicolor can be cured using Antifungal Cream by its active ingredients that effectively overcome all types of fungal skin infections.

  • This cream absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling on the skin, making it convenient to use by the Indonesian millennial community even while doing their activity.
  • KRIM 88 also has Cooling Sensation that quickly relieves the itching caused by Tinea Versicolor, which is also comfortable to use on sensitive skin areas such as the face, skin folds, and groin.
  • And its Fresh Aroma helps reduce unpleasant smells when used in areas covered by clothing or shoes.

How to Use KRIM 88

KRIM 88 is used by applying with a twist motion from the outside inwards on the infected skin 2 to 3 times a day. The duration of use of KRIM 88 varies between 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the chronic of the infection.

  • That is important to keep using KRIM 88 for up to 10 days after the fungal skin infection has disappeared to prevent it from occurring again.
  • Keep your skin clean and always be aware of the threat of Tinea Versicolor and other skin fungal infections. If necessary, provide KRIM 88 at home, office, or even in a bag for effective treatment.
